About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist Lead to join our team remotely. In this pivotal role, you will act as an internal business consultant, leveraging data analytics to optimize various facets of our organization. Your insights will directly influence decision-making processes, helping to reduce costs, minimize errors, and enhance overall organizational efficiency for our extensive member base. As a Data Scientist Lead, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders, data engineers, and other team members to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations. This role requires a proactive mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. While the position is remote, candidates must reside within a 100-mile radius of Costa Mesa, CA, and be available for on-site collaboration once a week, along with additional team meetings 2-3 times per month.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation
• Strong experience with Python or R for data analysis and modeling
• Solid understanding of statistics, data analysis, and data visualization techniques
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment
• Excellent communication skills to effectively present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to adapt and pivot approaches based on project needs and stakeholder feedback
• Demonstrated experience in pulling, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets
• Proven track record of delivering actionable insights and recommendations
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degrees preferred
• Experience with Tableau or similar visualization tools is a plus

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business problems and define analytical objectives
• Extract data from SQL databases and prepare datasets for analysis
• Analyze data using Python, R, or other relevant tools to identify patterns, trends, and insights
• Determine the statistical significance of findings and validate hypotheses
• Visualize data insights through dashboards and reports using Tableau or similar tools
• Present findings to stakeholders, providing clear explanations and actionable recommendations
• Work closely with data engineers to ensure data quality and integrity
• Participate in Agile sprint planning, daily standups, and collaborative project reviews
• Adapt analysis approaches as project requirements evolve, maintaining flexibility and creativity
• Contribute to the development of scalable data models and solutions that support organizational goals
