About The Role

The Data Engineer at Indeed plays a pivotal role in integrating data from diverse sources into unified data domain models to support analytics and product innovation across our global operations. This technical position involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and models that facilitate insights into the global job market. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in big data environments, data modeling, and building reliable data processing workflows. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including product managers, data analysts, and engineering teams—is essential to ensure the seamless flow and accuracy of data. The Data Engineer will also be responsible for optimizing data processes, automating testing, and supporting critical data pipelines through on-call rotations. This role directly contributes to our mission of connecting job seekers with employment opportunities by providing high-quality data insights that drive product enhancements and strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics
• At least 1 year of experience with big data and streaming technologies such as Snowflake, Redshift, Hive, Kafka, Spark, Flink, or similar
• Exposure to workflow orchestration and pipeline tools like Airflow
• Minimum of 2 years of coding experience, preferably in Python or Scala
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data processing, and ETL processes
• Passion for data, learning new skills, and staying updated with emerging technologies
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data pipelines (ETLs) to integrate data from various sources into the Glassdoor (Indeed) Data Warehouse
• Develop and modify data models in collaboration with cross-functional teams to support analytical and operational needs
• Provide comprehensive documentation, training, and consulting to data warehouse users to facilitate effective data utilization
• Participate in on-call rotations to support and troubleshoot critical business data pipelines ensuring high availability and reliability
• Continuously optimize data processing workflows for scalability, efficiency, and reliability
• Automate testing and validation of data pipelines to ensure data integrity and consistency
• Stay updated with industry best practices and incorporate innovative solutions to improve data infrastructure
