About the Role

As a Data Analyst Tax at NumeralHQ, you will be integral to our operational engine. You will focus on reconciling customer data, enhancing data quality, and making our platform smarter and more scalable. You will collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Customer Experience teams to provide clean, actionable data and seamless onboarding experiences. Your insights will drive strategic initiatives, improve workflows, and support automation of compliance processes for internet commerce.

Responsibilities

• Own high-impact projects from design to deployment and QA.
• Monitor and analyze changes in sales tax laws and ensure compliance.
• Maintain and update internal databases with accurate tax rules and rates.
• Generate operational reports and derive actionable insights from tax data.
• Collaborate with tax experts, engineering, and customer teams to translate regulations into system logic.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities using AI agents and internal tools.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and research skills with an ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
• Experience with workflow automation tools like Zapier, AirTable, or Notion.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Comfort working cross-functionally with diverse teams.

Bonus Points For

• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages.
• Exposure to indirect tax systems including sales tax and VAT.
• Experience with AI and automation tooling.
• Background in early-stage startup environments.
