About The Role
Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute is seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst to join its dynamic team. This role is integral to supporting the institute’s mission of advancing cancer research, improving patient outcomes, and fostering innovation in clinical and research data management. The successful Data Analyst will collaborate closely with investigators and the shared resource development team to design, develop, and maintain longitudinal databases that support the breast program and high-risk breast initiatives. The Data Analyst will be responsible for acquiring, managing, and analyzing complex clinical and research data from multiple sources, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with institutional policies. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Data Science, Public Health, or a related field
- Minimum of one year of experience in data analysis, statistics, or related areas
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and management
- Experience working with clinical/healthcare data systems such as EPIC, PowerChart, or REDCap
- Knowledge of relational database management systems and data warehousing/ETL processes
- Familiarity with statistical software packages such as SPSS, SAS, or R
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Understanding of clinical and research data use policies and regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries and metadata documentation to ensure data clarity and consistency
- Support the development and enforcement of data standards across projects and databases
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of data through validation, reporting, and query development
- Assist in designing and implementing data collection plans and management strategies for clinical and research datasets
- Collaborate with investigators and technical teams to develop and optimize longitudinal databases
- Support data acquisition efforts from multiple sources, ensuring data integrity and security
- Perform complex data analysis to extract meaningful insights and support research objectives
- Provide expertise on database architecture and assist users in meeting their data needs
- Contribute to system re-engineering efforts to enhance data collection and management processes
- Generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively
- Stay updated on regulatory policies related to clinical and research data use and ensure compliance
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the institute’s research and operational goals
