About The Role
Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute is seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the institute’s mission to advance cancer research and patient care through meticulous data management and analysis. This position involves collaborating with investigators and the shared resource development team to design, develop, and manage longitudinal databases related to breast cancer research and high-risk breast program initiatives. The Data Analyst will be responsible for acquiring, managing, and analyzing complex clinical and research data from multiple sources, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about healthcare data, research, and making a tangible impact in cancer treatment advancements. The position is primarily remote, with the expectation of contributing to ongoing projects at Emory’s Atlanta campus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Data Science, Public Health, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of one year of experience in data analysis, statistics, or related areas
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and management
- Experience working with clinical or healthcare data systems (e.g., EPIC, PowerChart, REDCap)
- Knowledge of relational database management systems
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes
- Familiarity with statistical analysis packages such as SPSS, SAS, or R
- Strong analytical, organizational, and attention to detail skills
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Understanding of clinical and research data use policies and regulations
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries and metadata documentation to ensure data clarity and consistency
- Support the development and enforcement of data standards across projects and teams
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of data through validation, reporting, and query development
- Assist in designing and implementing data collection and management plans tailored to research needs
- Collaborate with investigators to support data acquisition from various sources and facilitate data integration
- Develop and generate reports, dashboards, and queries to support research and clinical decision-making
- Support system and business process re-engineering efforts to optimize data workflows and future data needs
- Provide expertise and consultation to users regarding database management and data utilization
- Perform related duties as required to support research projects and institutional objectives
