Automation Engineer L3 Role Purpose

The purpose of the role is to design, program, simulate, and test the automation product or process to achieve the required efficiency and effectiveness. This involves understanding software requirements, analyzing technology architecture, formulating project plans, and contributing to the automation roadmap and testing process improvements. The role also focuses on improving and maintaining the automation framework and building reusable libraries.

Design and Execute Software Development and Reporting

This section focuses on ensuring the environment is ready for execution, designing test plans, developing and executing test cases, and resolving complex technical design issues. The Automation Engineer will implement, track, and report key metrics to assure full coverage of functional and non-functional requirements through automation. This includes owning the testing and validation of code, tracking problems, resolutions, and bug fixes, and creating a comprehensive database of defects and mitigation techniques. Additionally, the role involves designing and implementing automated testing tools and developing processes for software validation.

• Develop programs that run efficiently and adhere to WIPRO standards.
• Discuss "best practices" with team members, reference textbooks, and training manuals.
• Document code and use accepted design patterns.
• Automate processes for software validation by setting up and designing test cases.

Ensuring Smooth Flow of Communication with Customer & Internal Stakeholders

This involves working with Agile delivery teams to understand product vision and backlogs, developing robust test automation for functional, regression, and performance testing. The role includes assisting in creating acceptance criteria, generating a test automation backlog, and collaborating with the Development team to improve continuous deployment practices. Close collaboration with business Subject Matter Experts is crucial for understanding automation requirements, followed by designing, building, and deploying applications using automation tools. The engineer will ensure long-term maintainability by documenting projects according to WIPRO guidelines and ensuring clear and effective communication with testers, users, developers, and clients to facilitate problem resolution. Assistance will be provided to testers and support personnel as needed to determine system problems. Ability to perform backend/database programming for key projects is also required.
