Technically, Winamax means: A powerful and innovative game engine: dynamic adaptation of game offerings, highly configurable poker games, fraud detection. A distributed and scalable architecture designed to process platform flows in real-time. A modular platform subject to high availability and data security constraints, capable of handling large audiences.

About the Role

Winamax is the French leader in online poker and sports betting, with hundreds of thousands of active players daily, over 900,000 bets placed, over 250,000 poker tournaments launched each day, and 20 billion poker hands played since the platform's inception. Winamax also operates in Spain and Germany. Supporting this high traffic presents significant challenges in terms of architecture, high availability, observability, and security. On the infrastructure side, we have thousands of service instances running in parallel and over 50 TB of data in our databases. Within this context, as part of the Infrastructure team, composed of 5 people, you will actively participate in the design, build, and run of our AWS infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure the optimal functioning of the infrastructure.
• Maintain the optimal operation and operational readiness (MCO) of our high-traffic platform.
• Operate the platform and infrastructure, including incident resolution.
• Improve and automate the creation and changes of infrastructure.
• Architect, evolve, and maintain systems related to Winamax products.
• Ensure the automation of recurring tasks within the team.
• Support development teams.
• Work closely with various development teams, proposing architectures aligned with business needs.
• Provide cross-functional infrastructure components as self-service.
• Promote and disseminate SRE / DevOps best practices.

Example Projects

• Implement distributed tracing across the entire platform with OpenTelemetry.
• Set up an automated system for managing access to all types of databases.
• Integrate Terraform into CI/CD with drift management.
• Automate datastore replication between multiple environments (including rights management, anonymization...).

Candidate Profile

Beyond a specific degree, we are looking for someone who:

• Has led significant projects in a cloud environment (ideally AWS).
• Has at least one year of experience with high availability issues, distributed architectures, and high-load systems.
• Is proficient with Infra as Code / configuration management tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet..).
• Is proficient in the Linux/Unix environment.

Nice to have:

• Experience with CI/CD processes (GitHub Actions).
• Interest in the online gaming, Poker, or Sports Betting domain.
• Good knowledge of a scripting language: Bash, Python, Ruby, Golang.
