About the Role
As a Senior Analyst in Investment Banking, you will execute in-depth analyses to support new business development and transaction execution. You will perform critical research and financial modeling, apply core valuation methods, and complete due diligence activities under the guidance of the Investment Banking team lead. This role involves close collaboration with client staff to gather information, explain financial modeling methodologies, and present findings. You will also play a key role in training and mentoring summer interns and less experienced Analysts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform extensive financial and valuation analyses for mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions.
- Build financial models to value potential and actual clients and/or industries using core valuation methods like comparable companies, precedents, and discounted cash flow.
- Conduct due diligence, research, analysis, and documentation for potential and live transactions, identifying and escalating potential deal issues.
- Draft management presentations, marketing materials, and proposals, highlighting financial analysis and research results, and emphasizing William Blair's advantages.
- Participate actively in client meetings and drafting sessions.
- Research specific industries or sectors as identified by senior bankers to target clients.
- Evaluate and improve internal content and leverage learnings across deals to enhance efficiency and propose process improvements.
- Support client relationship development by understanding client needs, providing responsive service, and anticipating information requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of macro factors relevant to client industries and investment banking products.
- Mentor summer interns and junior Analysts, imparting best practices in investment banking.
- Ensure all activities comply with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Prior investment banking experience required; previous experience as an Analyst, or equivalent, strongly preferred.
- At least 1 year of investment banking experience covering technology/software (or PE equivalent) required.
- Proven track record in university studies.
- SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63 must be acquired within 150 days of employment.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
- Excellent mathematical, writing, verbal, and computer skills.
- Ability to adapt to new tasks with little notice and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong desire to win and developing increasingly sound judgment.
- Thorough understanding of accounting and finance.
- Commitment to satisfying internal and external customers.
- Travel required: approximately 5%.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated base salary range for this position is $125,000—$125,000 USD. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and/or commission-based incentives.
