Prepared Foods Production Team Member at Whole Foods Market

As a Prepared Foods Production Team Member, you will perform all functions related to the preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of products. This role is integral to maintaining a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members, ensuring adherence to all team and store Standard Operating Procedures.

About the Role

Team Members in this position are expected to embody Whole Foods Market's core values, promote company initiatives, and uphold all health and safety regulations. You will also be prepared and able to perform duties across various Team Member job descriptions, with Team Leaders spending significant time on the floor to engage with customers and provide support where needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists with the production of food for all Prepared Foods venues.
  • Ensures all prepared foods are correctly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated to maintain freshness and quality.
  • Verifies that all products meet Whole Foods Market's stringent guidelines for quality and preparation standards.
  • Accurately documents any waste and spoilage using the designated forms.
  • Ensures all product production follows correct measuring devices and established recipes precisely.
  • Educates customers on the distinct qualities of Whole Foods Market products compared to conventional store offerings.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization within walk-ins and freezers.
  • Arrives at the workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and prepared for shifts, and attends all required trainings and meetings.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service, promptly addressing customer needs, and applying suggestive selling techniques effectively; handles phones and pages courteously.
  • Optimizes sales potential through efficient and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products.
  • Adheres to, or ensures compliance with, all established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation protocols, and safe work practices.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment and ensures equipment is kept in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Performs assigned opening, mid, and closing duties, verifying accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately reports any safety hazards or violations encountered.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of the products being prepared and offered.
  • Ability to prepare an adequate number of recipes per shift, considering batch size and demand.
  • Capable of accessing information regarding market conditions and effectively communicating it to customers.
  • Understands the impact of spoilage and supply waste on department profitability.
  • Possesses working knowledge and application of all merchandising expectations within the department.
  • Demonstrates strong to excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate as part of a team.
  • Ability to convey information clearly and respectfully to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors.
  • Consistently meets customer service expectations and standards in all interactions.
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures accurately; exhibits effective time management and organization skills.
  • Maintains a passion for natural foods and aligns with the mission of Whole Foods Market.
  • Possesses a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with urgency.

Desired Work Experience

No prior retail experience is required for this position, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals new to the retail or food service industry.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • In an 8-hour workday, standing/walking is required for 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use includes single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work requires motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to various temperatures: below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work effectively in both wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Proficiency in using tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
  • May require the use of ladders.

Compensation & Benefits
