Job Description

Bakery Venue Service Team Member

The Bakery Venue Service Team Member performs all functions related to customer service, stocking, and sanitation. This role ensures a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. All duties must be performed in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures, supporting Whole Foods Market's core values and goals. Team Members are also expected to assist in other areas as needed, promote national, regional, and store initiatives, and adhere to all applicable health and safety regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Weighs, prices, and packages customer orders accurately.
  • Understands venue menus, staying informed about specials and changes.
  • Follows strict cash handling procedures within service venues.
  • Monitors product quality and freshness, ensuring proper rotation.
  • Completes product spoilage and transfer records as required.
  • Arrives at the workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; attends all scheduled shifts, trainings, and meetings.
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses customer needs promptly, and models suggestive selling techniques; answers phones and pages courteously.
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products.
  • Follows and complies with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health, sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; ensures equipment meets Whole Foods Market's cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately reports any safety hazards and violations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires standing/walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
  • Hand use includes single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work motions include bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures: freezing (<32°F), refrigeration (32-40°F), and hot (>90°F).
  • Ability to work effectively in both wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to safely use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
  • May require occasional use of ladders.
