About the Role
The Category Manager will join the Procurement team in Newcastle to support the execution of Whitehaven Coal7s Procurement strategy and lead sourcing projects for goods and services. You will manage complex procurement tasks, mentor team members, and engage with senior stakeholders, all while delivering sustainable procurement outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Review spend analytics and develop sourcing strategies.
- Lead competitive tendering activities and negotiate contracts.
- Perform vendor spend data analysis and mitigate commercial risks.
- Mentor Category Specialists and engage with senior stakeholders.
- Occasional travel to operating sites.
What You7ll Bring
You should have extensive experience in high complexity procurement or category management, strong negotiation and tender leadership skills, excellent analytical abilities, and effective stakeholder management skills. Proficiency with tools like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is essential; experience in the mining, resources, or construction industry is a plus.
