Legal Assistant - Commercial Litigation Practice

White & Case LLP's Commercial Litigation Practice is seeking a Legal Assistant to provide essential support to their team. This practice specializes in high-stakes business disputes across various industries, including contract disputes, class actions, business torts, shareholder and partnership disputes, antitrust litigation, and intellectual property litigation. The team handles all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation counseling to trial and appellate proceedings, leveraging deep legal expertise, global reach, and strategic insights to help clients navigate complex legal challenges and achieve favorable outcomes.

About the Role

The Legal Assistant will primarily focus on providing essential support to the Commercial Litigation team, assisting with a variety of tasks and assignments. As expertise develops, there will be opportunities to progress to more complex and nuanced projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on a variety of regulatory matters, including compliance with export controls.
  • Review new matters daily and prepare short summaries.
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of matter flow and maintain up-to-date case files.
  • Create and maintain databases, charts, graphs, and tables for data analysis.
  • Utilize litigation support software, spreadsheet, and database programs.
  • Prepare daily time entries for services performed.

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Clear and concise writing skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Related work and/or internship experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime and long hours.
  • Basic knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity and competency with technology.
  • Ability to follow through on projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with a variety of personalities.
  • Ability to liaise with colleagues in other internal departments.
  • Excellent professional and personal references.
  • Excellent judgment and high ethical standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Foreign language skills a plus (especially Spanish).
