The Role: Product Designer at Whatnot
Whatnot is seeking experienced and thoughtful Product Designers who are passionate about solving complex problems and building scalable, user-centric experiences. In this role, you will lead the design of end-to-end workflows across high-impact surfaces, including user-facing features, internal tools, and core platform systems. You will be instrumental in creating clear, efficient, and user-centric designs, collaborating deeply with cross-functional partners such as designers, product managers, engineers, data scientists, and operations teams.
This includes diverse design challenges from onboarding and discovery flows to educational content, user review systems, and real-time interactions during live events. You will report to a Design leader and have the flexibility to work remotely within the U.S. or from one of our office hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design intuitive, end-to-end product experiences for both user-facing and internal tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex problems into clear product experiences.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and final visuals that bring clarity to ambiguous design challenges.
- Translate research insights and user requirements into compelling design solutions.
- Contribute to the broader design system, advocating for accessibility and inclusive user experiences.
- Utilize data, research, and feedback to iterate on existing features and identify improvement areas.
- Help foster a strong design culture by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and enhancing team processes.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking candidates with:
- 5+ years of experience in Product Design, demonstrated by a strong portfolio of shipped work.
- Strong interaction and systems thinking—you can untangle complex flows and design for edge cases.
- Expertise in design and prototyping tools like Figma, Protopie, or Framer.
- Deep understanding of user experience design principles and methodologies, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse cross-functional teams.
- Proven experience designing zero-to-one products or new platforms, thriving in ambiguous environments.
- Experience in e-commerce, marketplace platforms, or supply chain management is a plus.
