Role
We are seeking an Associate Creative Director, Category Marketing to join Whatnot's creative team. Our agile team is responsible for building the Whatnot brand and delivering best-in-class creative across both physical and digital experiences. As a core team member, you will play a pivotal role in leading the strategy, development, and execution of physical and digital events that deeply resonate with our diverse communities. We are looking for a hands-on, hybrid creative professional who excels at the intersection of brand design and experiential marketing. You will be responsible for translating the vibrant energy of our various categories (from Sneakers and Sports Cards to Fashion and Beauty) into engaging digitally native on-platform events and impactful in-person activations.
- Collaborate closely with category and marketing teams to develop and execute event strategy and design that supports our business goals and objectives.
- Oversee end-to-end processes, from initial concepts to final handoff, ensuring the delivery of work that drives loyalty and engagement.
- Manage and mentor a team of designers, providing guidance and feedback to foster a collaborative environment of creative excellence.
- Lead brainstorming and ideation sessions, generate innovative ideas and concepts for event campaigns, and develop compelling creative briefs that inspire outstanding team work.
- Stay abreast of trends, emerging platforms, and creative best practices to ensure our events remain fresh, effective, and culturally resonant.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including agencies and contractors, as needed to efficiently scale creative production.

Role Requirements
As our Associate Creative Director, Category Marketing, you should possess 10+ years of experience in design, brand, and experiential creative roles, plus:
- 2-4+ years of experience in a lead design role, executing projects independently, including in-house experience at a multi-sided brand.
- A proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing and branding strategies across physical and digital platforms.
- Experience in building a brand and achieving success in social-first environments.
- Demonstrated leadership of creative teams who have successfully taken campaigns from idea through to execution, with the ability to articulate the business problem solved, brief management, launch strategy, and campaign impact.
- A deep understanding of audience behavior, established and emerging trends and tools, and a passion for exploring how brands intersect with culture.
- Adeptness at using data and metrics to inform creative decisions and enhance impact.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present and articulate ideas clearly and effectively, and experience working closely with designers, marketers, and product teams.
- Skill in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to pivot and adapt as priorities shift.
- Naturally curious and proactive, possessing a growth mindset and a high standard for quality.
- You thrive on feedback, viewing it as a tool for growth, and are motivated to consistently elevate your work.
