Engineer – Join a High-Impact Transformation Program

This role is a crucial part of the UNITE team, Westpac Group's business-led, tech-enabled transformation program. You will be involved in delivering a 'one best way' approach to simplifying processes, systems, and technology to better serve customers and support employees.

What’s the Role?

The Banking Platform team is working on several exciting projects to enhance features for our Digital, Lender, and Broker Channels. You will be encouraged to analyse, design, and develop IT and business solutions for the Banking Platform portfolio in an Agile setting. The role involves supporting technology capabilities to deliver value to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, developing, and testing software solutions for lending platforms
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams
  • Document processes using flowcharts, diagrams, and code comments
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint activities
  • Learn and apply engineering standards and tools
  • Support troubleshooting using SQL Developer and Splunk

What do I need?

  • Experience or academic exposure in Java development
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and microservices architecture
  • Basic understanding of Oracle databases and SQL
  • Exposure to web services (SOAP, XML, JSON) and integration concepts
  • Interest in tools like Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
