Accounting Support Specialist

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the established goals of the Westfield Area YMCA, the Accounting Support Specialist is responsible for performing clerical and administrative duties, processing non-payroll-related bills, reconciling bank accounts, auditing timecards for bi-weekly payroll, and providing professional support to the CFO and other team members.

Essential Functions

  • Manage accounts payable per established policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate payroll processing through timecard review and audit.
  • Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts accurately and timely.
  • Assist CFO with routine accounting tasks including journal entries.
  • Resolve credit card chargebacks and handle banking issues as needed.
  • Maintain positive interactions with administrators, supervisors, staff and vendors.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all work-related matters.
  • Perform other special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • In-person, Full-Time, 35 hours per week.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required.
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant professional experience in accounting/finance, with a focus on Accounts Payable.
  • Proficient computer skills and strong reading, writing, and typing abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Payroll and non-profit experience considered a plus.
