About the Role
As an Automation & Controls Technician at West Fraser, you will expand our automation and predictive controls capabilities across our OSB and lumber manufacturing network. This role involves remote technical support, troubleshooting, and system monitoring from our Greenville office.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitor critical devices including electrical/mechanical components and robotics remotely.
- Analyze system issues and assist in breakdown recovery.
- Support new equipment setup, programming for process changes, and troubleshooting.
- Assist in upgrading automation facilities and commissioning new infrastructure.
- Develop PLC programs and HMIs as per West Fraser standards.
- Provide data support for mill level project analysis and configuration of process data collection.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold an Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Electrical, Engineering Technology or equivalent experience. Prior OSB experience along with solid programming and technical skills are essential. Experience with VMware ESX, virtualization, Rockwell ControlLogix, VB, SQL, Python, or JSON programming is favorable. Excellent communication skills and teamwork are required. Flexibility to work in shifts and variable schedules to support a 24/7 operation, with up to 20% travel, is needed.
