About The Role
The AVP, Business Applications Data Conversion is an experienced and strategic leader responsible for the design, execution, governance, and ongoing optimization of large-scale data conversion initiatives across the organization. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant data migration during system implementations, upgrades, acquisitions, and integrations.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in data migration strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder leadership, with the ability to translate complex data challenges into scalable, repeatable solutions aligned with the company’s overall business strategy. This role operates in a high-demand, performance-driven environment and serves as a key partner to technology, operations, finance, and external vendors to maximize value realization and minimize risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and executes enterprise data conversion strategy aligned with business objectives and technology roadmaps
- Leads end-to-end data conversion efforts, including data discovery, mapping, cleansing, validation, migration, reconciliation, and post-conversion support
- Builds and leverages strong relationships with internal stakeholders, operators, implementation teams, and third-party vendors
- Serves as the primary point of accountability for data quality, completeness, and integrity throughout conversion cycles
- Partners closely with system implementation teams to ensure data conversion activities are fully integrated into project plans and timelines
- Establishes standardized methodologies, tools, templates, and best practices for data conversion across programs and portfolios
- Oversees multiple concurrent conversion efforts, managing dependencies, risks, and resource allocation
- Ensures compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and SOX standards throughout conversion processes
- Develops and enforces data governance, validation, and quality assurance processes
- Leads reconciliation and sign-off activities to ensure successful cutover and business readiness
- Provides subject matter expertise on legacy system data structures and future-state system requirements
- Anticipates and mitigates risks related to data loss, data corruption, timing, and downstream operational impacts
- Develops and delivers clear, consistent status reporting and executive-level communications
- Manages conversion budgets, vendor spend, and resource utilization to approved business cases
- Coaches, mentors, and leads internal data conversion teams, fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
- Provides day-to-day leadership and management consistent with the organization’s core values

Minimum Requirements
Skills / Specialized Knowledge:
- Deep expertise in data conversion and migration methodologies
- Strong understanding of project management and agile delivery practices
- Ability to manage large portfolios of complex, interdependent work
- Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority
- Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting capabilities
- Expertise in data quality, reconciliation, and validation techniques
Experience
- 8–10+ years of experience in data conversion, system implementations, or enterprise technology initiatives
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale, multi-system data migrations
- Experience working with third-party data vendors and implementation partners
- Strong understanding of operational, financial, and regulatory data requirements
- Experience planning and executing conversions in a SOX-controlled environment preferred
- Experience supporting ERP, CRM, property management, or financial systems implementations preferred
