About the Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a seasoned Lead DevOps Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will build and evolve our infrastructure provisioning processes into a modern, self-service, GitOps-driven ecosystem. This hands-on leadership position blends strategic architecture, cross-functional collaboration, and high-quality code delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives for building infrastructure solutions for business applications.
  • Architect and develop modular Infrastructure as Code (IaC) components using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Crossplane.
  • Design and implement GitOps-driven workflows for automated provisioning and lifecycle management.
  • Build and maintain self-service platform capabilities for independent developer management through intuitive interfaces and APIs.
  • Integrate infrastructure automation with tools such as ArgoCD, Kubernetes, Tekton, and GitHub Actions.
  • Define infrastructure standards and golden paths for consistency, security, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with platform, security, and application teams to align automation with business goals.
  • Engage in architecture reviews, code reviews, and mentor peers on best practices in infrastructure automation.
  • Continuously improve performance, reliability, and maintainability of infrastructure tooling.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions.
  • 3+ years with Terraform, Ansible, Crossplane or similar IaC tools.
  • 3+ years with GitOps principles using tools such as ArgoCD, Tekton, or GitHub Actions.
  • 2+ years with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and hybrid cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • 2+ years designing and consuming RESTful APIs using Golang or Python.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Crossplane or control plane abstraction tools.
  • Familiarity with developer portals like Backstage and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
  • Exposure to image management tools like Packer or Image Builder.
  • Background in building platform engineering solutions for cloud-native development.
  • Knowledge of observability tooling including Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
  • A developer-first mindset focused on reducing friction and improving productivity.

Compensation & Benefits

The base pay range for this position is $119,000.00 to $224,000.00. Benefits include health benefits, 401(k) Plan, paid time off, disability benefits, life and accident insurance, parental and caregiving leave, commuter benefits, tuition reimbursement, and various discounts.
