About the Role

This Backend Developer Python FastAPI role is for one of Weekday AI's clients. Designed for a hands-on developer, the job is ideal for those who thrive on curiosity, autonomy, and experimentation while actively shaping products and pushing boundaries.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, maintain, and scale backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI.
  • Design and implement secure, high-performance, and well-documented APIs.
  • Develop and manage authentication and authorization flows (OAuth, JWT, etc.).
  • Design and maintain structured databases ensuring data integrity and performance.
  • Collaborate with frontend and product teams for seamless integration.
  • Explore and deploy solutions on AWS/GCP or similar cloud environments.
  • Participate in code reviews and enforce clean architecture practices.
  • Utilize AI-assisted development tools to optimize workflows.
  • Take ownership by identifying problems and experimenting with new ideas.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong expertise in Python and FastAPI.
  • Solid understanding of JavaScript and Python-based frameworks.
  • Proficiency with Git and version control best practices.
  • Strong fundamentals in backend architecture, data modeling, and databases.
  • Deep understanding of secure API design and authentication mechanisms.
  • Ability to create clear documentation for APIs and backend logic.
  • A proactive mindset and excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Familiarity with ReactJS / NextJS.
  • Experience with Linux and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).
