About the Role
The Medical Science Director, Oncology at WebMD is responsible for high-quality scientific, medical, and clinical content development targeted at physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers. This role plays a key part in creating and delivering digital, live, in-person, and hybrid medical education programs in oncology and related therapeutic areas.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Writing & Content Development:
- Create high-quality scientific, medical, and clinical content.
- Develop PowerPoint presentations and text-based copy.
- Stay current with clinical issues, literature, and guidelines.
- Maintain relationships with thought leaders and expert faculty.
- Ensure content aligns with program goals and client expectations.
- Write assessment and survey questions and analyze data for insights.
Medical Education Expertise:
- Consult with internal teams and clients on program design and execution.
- Apply adult learning theory and instructional design principles.
- Engage with Sales and Strategy teams for future program recommendations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with team members to review work quality and client satisfaction.
- Meet deadlines and ensure projects meet specifications.
Skills and Qualifications
This role requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in developing medical education programs and content development, ideally with a background in Medical Affairs and expertise in hematology/oncology. Advanced degrees (MD, PharmD, RN, NP, PA, PhD) are preferred, with a Bachelor of Science as a minimum.
Strong organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint), and familiarity with digital tools (SharePoint, Google Drive, etc.) are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment. Some travel (up to 20%) may be required.
