About the Role: Senior News Writer
The Senior News Writer will lead TLDR and shape its voice. This role involves reporting, writing, and developing enterprise story ideas while maintaining a sharp editorial eye and keen news judgment. Candidates must be proactive, creative, and able to work under tight deadlines (including occasional Sundays) while collaborating with a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as lead writer for TLDR newsletter and Wealthsimple Magazine.
- Report, fact-check, and synthesize news and headlines.
- Generate enterprise story ideas and create new editorial franchises.
- Stay informed on finance, markets, pop culture, and politics.
- Work flexibly and manage occasional Sunday hours.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of editorial or financial writing experience.
- Strong reporting, research, and analytical skills.
- A deep curiosity about money and global trends.
- Ability to write with style, wit, and clarity.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary for Canadian candidates ranges from CAD 89,600 to CAD 112,000 with additional equity compensation. Benefits include top-tier health coverage, generous vacation and wellness days, and opportunities for remote work and flexible scheduling.
