In our Data & Analytics (D&A) organization, the Data Scientist plays a pivotal role in the development of analytics-driven solutions that optimize and streamline end-to-end clinical trial processes. Working closely with our D&A engineering team and clinical trial experts, this role will harness the power of cutting-edge technology and provide intelligence-based solutions to enhance decision-making in the clinical trial process. The Data Scientist is part of a team that is domain agnostic, working hands-on with structured as well as unstructured data, designing algorithms and implementing innovative capabilities that cater to an array of business use cases within our D&A function. As a core member of the D&A team, the Data Scientist will leverage the power of latest developments, tools, and libraries in the generative AI field to deliver clinical trial business solutions that are aligned to the organization’s strategic roadmap.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for helping the organization discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data (open source, licensed and proprietary) and make smarter decisions to deliver excellent services and products.
- Apply data mining techniques, perform statistical analysis, and build high quality prediction systems integrated with existing and future services/products.
- Select features, build, and optimize classifiers using machine learning techniques.
- Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
- Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis. Work with the engineer team to operationalize all processes.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear and concise manner.
- Support team members developing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting of operational data in support of strategy and planning.
- Provide support to stakeholders as required to efficiently and effectively model and forecast data and other relevant information to allow for the development of evidence-based strategies for inclusion into client deliverables.
- Prepare clinical trial operational predictions/forecasts with appropriate guidance from internal clinical operational experts.
- Synthesize multiple sources of information to solve problems related to data analysis and delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners in leading projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a quantitative discipline from an accredited institution.Qualifications and Experience
- 2+ years of progressive relevant work experience in: Data analytics, market research, and/or data mining, preferably in developing feasibility and clinical trial development strategies
- Machine learning and deep learning techniques and algorithms
- Common data science toolkits, ideally Python
- 1+ years of practical experience: Understanding and demonstrated experience mining, manipulating and presenting complex scientific data as it relates to clinical research or market analyses
- Experience with NoSQL databases and data platforms (databricks, snowflake, etc.)
- 6+ months experience analyzing large data sets, applying a variety of statistical techniques such as regression, discriminant analysis, cluster analysis; Bayesian Theory experience preferred
- Applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
