The Role
This internship with Lumen offers an opportunity to support advanced cyber investigations, threat hunting, digital forensics, and research. As an intern, you will work full time (40 hours/week) from May 29 to August 7, 2026, remotely from anywhere in the continental US.
Main Responsibilities
- Support real-world cyber investigations and threat analysis.
- Engage in malware behavior research and reverse engineering.
- Contribute to tool tuning, use case development, and threat taxonomy updates.
- Participate in threat hunting using SIEM tools, Jupyter Notebooks, and behavioral IOCs.
- Document findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled in a 4-year accredited college, rising senior.
- Knowledge of Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Familiarity with Cloud technologies, Linux, Python, EDR, network analysis, and forensics tools (e.g., Autopsy, SIFT, REM).
- Basic understanding of incident response, log analysis, and threat intelligence.
- Strong analytical skills and excellent communication.
Compensation
Internship compensation is hourly-based, ranging from $31 to $46 per hour, based on education level, location, and qualifications.
