Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company, seeks a Systems Engineer, Behavioral Requirements to join its Systems Engineering team. With a mission to be the world’s most trusted driver, Waymo builds the Waymo Driver that powers fully autonomous ride-hail services and various vehicle platforms.
Role Summary
This role focuses on blending software and hardware systems to validate performance, ensure safety, and drive strategic alignment across teams. Reporting to the Manager of Systems Engineering, Driving Behaviors, you will work in a hybrid environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define safety and regulatory requirements.
- Gather and analyze critical data for metrics and system evaluation.
- Create and maintain precise documentation to support system designs.
- Drive strategic alignment and lead system design trade-off discussions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related field
- Experience with technical challenges and cross-disciplinary problems
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar data analysis tools
- Strong skills in technical documentation and stakeholder engagement
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in large-scale system architecture in safety-critical environments
- Familiarity with machine learning for system optimization
- Experience leading cross-team initiatives with external partners
- Knowledge of automotive, robotics, or related industries
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary for this full-time position ranges from $158,000 to $200,000 USD, with eligibility for an annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and comprehensive company benefits.
