Role Overview

The Software Engineer Discovery Eval at Waymo focuses on delivering actionable insights into driver performance. This involves designing automated analytic workflows using large language models and other AI techniques, and integrating these insights into the machine learning training lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement analytics workflows using LLM and AI techniques.
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines for simulation and real-world data.
• Create an orchestration system managing lifecycle of discovered issues.
• Enhance discovery tools to improve evaluation precision and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineers, ML teams, and researchers.

Your Qualifications

• 2–7 years of experience with ML concepts and evaluation methodologies.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++.
• Experience in data analysis and large-scale data processing.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with AI-powered agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with evaluation frameworks in autonomous vehicles or robotics.
• Hands-on experience with ML infrastructure and tools.
• Expertise in data visualization techniques.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time role includes a base salary between $170,000 and $216,000 USD, participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, an equity incentive plan, and a generous company benefits program.
