Role Overview

The Senior Network Engineer on the Digital Transformation/Waymo Infrastructure and Networking Services team will report to the Head of IT and Digital Transformation. In this hybrid role, you will design, deploy, and maintain the network infrastructure that supports Waymo's commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Planning: Create and review Engineering Design Plans (EDPs) ensuring compliance with company guidelines.
• Procedure Management: Validate, implement, and maintain Method of Procedures (MOPs) for internal teams and external partners.
• Network Deployment & Configuration: Deploy and configure firewalls, switches, access points, and UPS systems.
• Architecture & Strategy: Collaborate on strategic enhancements for network architecture.
• Monitoring & Issue Resolution: Monitor network performance dashboards and resolve issues proactively.
• Advanced Support & Troubleshooting: Provide Tier 2 support and resolve escalations, ensuring root cause analysis.

Requirements

• 10+ years in IT infrastructure management and service delivery.
• 5+ years of LAN, WAN, WLAN, and Mobility wireless design and implementation.
• Experience in network capacity planning and security management.
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and technical project managers.
• Solid working knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.
• Experience with wireless and/or optical networks installation and troubleshooting.

Preferred Skills

• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Able to research networking issues and products effectively.
• Highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with network automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Python in a CI/CD environment.
