About The Opportunity
Wavelo is expanding its Analytics & Insights team. This team is central to all reporting, analytics, data flows, visualization, and related business intelligence operations within our rapidly growing company. We are responsible for extracting valuable insights from our extensive data and presenting them to various organizational levels. With a wealth of data, we need a skilled individual to help us maximize its potential.
In this role, you will manage the entire data pipeline, from extracting data from source systems into our data lake to developing visualizations and dashboards in Looker, and everything in between.
Job Duties for a Data Analyst
- Collaborate with internal and external business, product, and engineering stakeholders to define BI and analytics requirements and priorities.
- Work alongside the data engineering team, engineers, product team, and business stakeholders to comprehend data sources and build data pipelines, transforming raw data into clean, aggregated data for BI solutions.
- Utilize visualization tools and statistical techniques to explore data, analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, derive insights, and present these findings to stakeholders across the organization.
- Contribute to business analytics projects, incorporating predictive and prescriptive analytics to uncover valuable insights from data and inform business decisions (e.g., analyzing consumer migration from MVNO to MNO accounts).
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Must Have:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to gather requirements and convey analysis effectively to diverse internal and external clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent mathematical and statistical analysis skills, particularly as they apply to business contexts and experimentation.
- Proficiency in presenting and visualizing numerical and statistical data clearly.
- Ability to grasp business imperatives and drivers, identify relevant data correlations, and establish processes to translate these correlations into information flows that support business growth.
Nice to Have:
- Proficiency with Python (preferred) or R.
- Demonstrated understanding and practical experience in the principles, tools, and processes of data science (with business or academic background).
- Experience with AWS Sagemaker or Google Vertex AI.
- Experience with Kafka as a data source.
Qualifications Required
- Post-secondary education in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of quantitative analysis work experience (experience in the Wireless/Telecom/ISP sector is a significant asset).
- 3-5 years of experience handling, manipulating, and analyzing data, and creating analytical reports.
- Strong expertise in SQL, database structures, and data lake architectures (Snowflake experience is an asset but not mandatory).
- Expertise in developing business intelligence solutions using Looker or other leading BI software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or Google Suite.
