Position Summary: IT Systems Technologist

As an IT Systems Technologist, you will manage enterprise-level IT technologies across Secondary and feeder Elementary schools. This permanent full-time role involves comprehensive system support, network maintenance, and hardware/software management, ensuring seamless operation for educational environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Enterprise-level IT technologies within Secondary and feeder Elementary schools.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software for local area networks, workstations, third-party applications, and management servers.
  • Monitor, analyze, and maintain network performance, including servers, switches, and cabling, performing troubleshooting and repairs as needed.
  • Maintain multiple security levels and control user access to the network and systems.
  • Provide proactive security measures and backups of critical network servers and systems.
  • Create and maintain policies, templates, and scripts for automating user management, MDM management, and network resource access.
  • Backup and restore user data as required.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of hardware, software, and network products, providing recommendations for purchase based on user requirements.
  • Validate new software, hardware, or service requests in a test environment mirroring production to ensure successful deployment and present recommendations.

Minimum Requirements

  • A three-year college diploma in computer technology or MCSE/MCSA certification, along with a strong understanding of network topologies, local and wide area networking, and telecommunications.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a system support role.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Intune MDM, Azure/Entra management, Active Directory, Windows 11, MSOffice Suite, Microsoft SCCM Client Management, and Microsoft Windows server administration.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 23kg and work on ladders.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure in a fast-moving environment.
  • Passion for learning and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to understand the urgency of actions and recognize priorities while multitasking.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.
  • School Board experience is considered an asset.

Compensation and Work Details

  • Hourly Rate: $35.93 – $37.76 per hour.
  • Annual Market Allowance: $8,000.
  • Hours of Work: Permanent Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks/year.
  • Work Schedule: Determined by the IT Supervisor of Endpoint Support Services.
  • Location: Information Technology Services at the Catholic Education Centre, Kitchener, ON.
  • Effective Date: As soon as possible.
