About The Role
Wand is looking for a Social Media Manager who is deeply embedded in gaming culture. This role is for someone who can react quickly to trending gaming moments and create content rapidly. You will own Wand's branded social presence across Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube, acting as the creative force behind how millions of gamers discover Wand. This is a growth role with significant trajectory, where your scope will expand as our social presence scales.
This position is ideal for individuals who actively follow gaming discourse, have informed opinions on successful gaming content, and can transform a cultural moment into engaging social media posts.
What You'll Do
Content Creation & Strategy
- Own Wand's social media presence across Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube, defining the tone, voice, and creative direction.
- Create original content, including short-form video, memes, graphics, and reactive posts, tailored to trending moments.
- Develop content series that highlight Wand's features, such as interactive maps, game assists, and video clipping, in an entertaining manner.
- Stay informed about gaming trends and cultural moments, acting swiftly to capitalize on them.
- Manage relationships with video production partners for briefing and quality checking of longer-form content.
Growth & Community
- Grow Wand's social following, prioritizing engaged community over vanity metrics.
- Foster community through authentic engagement, including responding to comments and participating in gaming conversations.
- Identify user-generated content (UGC) opportunities and creator content to amplify.
- Expand Wand's presence within gaming communities and cultural conversations beyond owned channels.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Influencer Marketing to amplify creator partnerships across social platforms.
- Collaborate with Performance Marketing to develop social-first concepts for paid campaigns.
- Work with the Product team to translate feature releases into community conversations.
- Coordinate with the Design team on visual assets, ensuring a consistent brand voice.
Analytics & Optimization
- Track performance across platforms, focusing on engagement, reach, saves, and shares.
- Utilize data to rapidly iterate on successful content strategies and discontinue underperforming ones.
- Provide concise, regular reports on channel growth and content effectiveness.
What You Need
- Sufficient experience to independently manage a social presence, with a proven history of building or growing accounts.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong content creation skills (video, graphics, memes, written posts).
- Native fluency in gaming internet culture, including playing games, following discourse, and having informed opinions.
- Proven track record of growing accounts and building engaged communities from scratch or near-zero.
- Platform fluency across Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube, understanding platform-specific content dynamics.
- A data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret performance data and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Experience managing freelancers or agencies for content production.
Nice-to-Haves
- Background in community management on Discord or Reddit.
- Experience in a startup or growth-stage environment, comfortable with building from the ground up.
- Understanding of paid social amplification and boosting strategies.
- Familiarity with gaming content creation tools and capture workflows.
