Position Summary
Walmart is seeking an experienced and Distinguished Software Engineer, Information Security, Post-Quantum Cryptography to join our Cryptography team. As a key member, you will play a vital role in ensuring the security and integrity of Walmart's systems and applications.
What you'll do
- Provide technical design and architecture advice to internal teams on how to securely develop and build applications and supporting systems, with a specific focus on Post-Quantum Cryptography.
- Collaborate with Hardware Cryptographic vendors to ensure a comprehensive understanding of product lifecycle, product roadmap, new functionalities, and issues.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and developments in Post-Quantum Cryptography and assess their potential impact on our systems and applications.
- Design, implement, and maintain cryptographic solutions that align with industry best practices and standards.
- Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of key exchange protocols and message authentication codes, and provide practical implementation recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate modern security protocols (TLS, SSH, etc.) into our systems and applications.
- Communicate complex cryptographic concepts effectively to various stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
To succeed as a Distinguished Software Engineer, Information Security, Post-Quantum Cryptography, candidates should possess:
- Strong understanding of key exchange protocols and message authentication codes, along with practical implementation experience.
- Familiarity with modern security protocols such as TLS and SSH.
- Deep knowledge of Post-Quantum Cryptography and its implications on system security and encryption.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex cryptographic concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+, etc.) are a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
- Option 2: 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Security+, GISF, CISSP, CCSP, or GSEC.
- Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity or related area and 4 years’ experience leading information security or cybersecurity projects.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies.

Salary Range
The annual salary range for this position varies by location:
- Bentonville, Arkansas: $130,000.00 - $260,000.00
- Herndon, Virginia: $156,000.00 - $312,000.00
Additional compensation may include annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock options for certain positions.
