About The Role
We are a growing residential construction firm seeking an Executive Construction Manager with residential construction experience. As leadership transitions to oversee the broader organization, we need a high-level operator to manage and oversee our Scattered Sites division. This is a highly involved role-you will design systems, maintain margins, and solve complex operational challenges across a large portion of the business. You'll lead a diverse team from field managers to IT, ensuring every home moves through the pipeline-from design to closing-with precision. Beyond technical expertise, this role requires strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Success depends on the ability to navigate high-pressure environments, manage conflict, and maintain team alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Emotional Intelligence
- Manage high-stakes conversations with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams to drive productive outcomes
- Maintain client confidence and protect organizational reputation during challenges
- Anticipate and de-escalate conflicts before they impact operations
- Act as a stabilizing force for internal teams, ensuring a productive and professional environment
Operational Leadership
- Lead and mentor ~15 remote Field Managers
- Oversee Estimating, Sales, Accounting, and Pre-Production teams
Systems & Process Development
- Design, implement, and improve scalable systems across the organization
- Ensure workflows are repeatable, efficient, and risk-mitigated
Financial Oversight
- Conduct detailed financial analysis across POs, individual projects, and business segments
- Review estimates and pricing with a high level of financial scrutiny
Pre-Production Management
- Oversee design, permitting, and financing processes to maintain a steady pipeline
- Manage Sales Consultants, CAD, permitting teams, and client coordination
Problem Solving & Execution
- Serve as the final escalation point for operational, client, and team issues
- Manage selections database, IT infrastructure, and document systems
Qualifications
- CPA required with strong financial analysis and forecasting capabilities
- Experience in residential construction, particularly scattered-site builds
- Advanced Excel skills (nested IFs, VLOOKUPs, complex formatting)
- Ability to operate in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to build systems and improve operational efficiency
