About the Role

The Senior Politics Policy & Ideas Editor at Vox Media will oversee a team of writers dedicated to exploring and explaining policy, politics, and ideas. Working under the editorial director for policy, politics and ideas, this role is not about daily news coverage but about finding distinctive angles and comprehensive explainers that add value to existing news stories.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, assign, and edit pieces rooted in research and reporting.
  • Collaborate with editors across Vox platforms including audio and video teams.
  • Monitor both domestic and foreign news for unique analytical angles.
  • Set the broader editorial vision and daily coverage priorities.
  • Manage and lead a team of 3-4 writers.

Who You Are

You bring 5+ years of editing experience with strong leadership, management, and editing skills. You are analytical, capable of challenging arguments while embracing nuance and clarity in storytelling.
