We're on the lookout for a Software Engineer to join our team at Vizzuality. This opportunity is ideal for entry-level candidates who have just finished their studies. We're offering a permanent full-time contract, and we can offer a salary of €20,000 - €25,000 a year.

Skills and Experience

We build tools that help the world "see" sustainability and the biodiversity crisis in real-time. As a Software Engineer, you will join our engineering team to develop and maintain web applications that visualize nature-related and sustainability data. Whether it's tracking deforestation or mapping species habitats, your code will directly contribute to global conservation efforts. You’ll learn to build clean, maintainable software that makes complex biodiversity information accessible and beautiful for users everywhere.

  • A recent degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces, data processing, back-end systems, and all points in between. The more skills and experiences you can bring to Vizzuality, the better.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and deployments.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to break down a functional requirement into logical steps and write clean code to solve it.

Compensation
  • Annual salary of €20,000 - €25,000
  • Annual profit-sharing bonus plan (team bonus up to 10% of salary based on company performance).
  • €1,000 Referral Bonus after six months of hiring (for every successful referral).

We will be funding this role with a Grant from the community of Madrid. These are the grant requirements for people applying:

  • The position is open to people living in Spain.
  • You could work remotely from any city in Spain and/or in our office in Madrid.

First Interview: May 13th - 29th

The purpose of this interview is to understand what you are looking for, your current skill level and experience, and what you care about. You will also have the opportunity to get to know the company and our culture better and ask any questions about the role and our ways of working.

Challenge: May 25th - June 12th

We will invite you to work on an assignment to get a better understanding of your skills, the way you organize your ideas, and also how you would go about sharing what you do. You will receive the assignment by email and be given a week to submit the completed task.

2nd Interview: June 15th onwards

You will meet with a few of us, and we will discuss your experience and skills in depth. You will also have the opportunity to discuss the details of the challenge you shared with us in the previous stage of the process. This will be a great opportunity for you to ask us deeper questions about the role and the company.
