Summary of the Role
This one-year fellowship provides focused learning opportunities in 340B policy and compliance, specialty pharmacy, pharmaceutical supply chain, and marketplace analytics. You will collaborate closely with the Apexus teams, gaining valuable exposure to the ambulatory healthcare marketplace by supporting healthcare providers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The program emphasizes interactive discussions, development of educational materials, and hands-on experience, including a capstone project aligned with your interests. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of marketplace influences on medication access, including the role of safety net providers, public health policies, drug pricing strategies, medication distribution methods, and provider/payer contracting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and complete a research-based project aimed at providing marketplace-level 340B Program support, enhancing pharmacy services, or identifying other opportunities to improve medication access.
- Support team efforts in engaging directly with stakeholders to deliver education, analytics, and best practices that enhance their value.
- Provide support and coordination for the monthly Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) resident rotation hosted by Apexus.
- Contribute to Apexus staff's continuous growth goals by developing educational in-services based on published literature, best practices, and other relevant materials identified by the teams.
- Offer technical assistance to various program stakeholders to ensure 340B Program compliance, optimize savings, and enhance patient care.
- Utilize analytics to pinpoint opportunities for value enhancement through Apexus offerings.
- Work directly with organizational leaders to develop professional skills in areas such as organizational leadership, project/time management, conflict resolution, relationship management, team building, and individual leadership style.
Qualifications
- A PharmD or RPh is strongly preferred; a bachelor’s degree is required.
- Previous exposure to hospital pharmacy operations and retail pharmacy operations is essential, which may be obtained through a PGY1, PGY2 residency, or 3 years of related professional experience.
- Strong communication and project management skills are required.
Compensation and Benefits
Vizient considers skills, experience, and organizational needs in its compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the estimated range, and hires typically fall below the top of the range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The salary range for this role is $51,900.00 to $87,900.00, and this position is also incentive eligible.
