Your Role
As a Business Systems Intern (Automation, AI & Internal Tools), you’ll support our Biz Systems function by helping VI improve how we operate through automation, internal tooling experiments, and AI-enabled ways of working.
This is an unpaid internship with a preferred commitment of full-time for 3–6 months. Vietnam-based candidates are preferred (Ho Chi Minh City is a plus), but we are open to remote candidates in APAC depending on the profile and availability.
This internship is designed to be high-learning and high-ownership. You’ll work on real internal problems, with clear structure and mentorship. If you enjoy systems, automation, and “how work actually gets done,” you’ll likely love this.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Automation learning and hands-on experimentation
- Learn n8n quickly (triggers, nodes, workflows, error handling, basic integrations)
- Build and test automations in a safe environment (non-critical, non-production)
- First key project: feasibility prototype — can we build a lightweight internal “HRIS-like” workflow system for People Ops? Examples: forms → approvals → notifications → data storage → audit trail; Basic role-based access thinking (who can submit/approve/view); Testing edge cases (what breaks, what needs safeguards)
- Produce a clear write-up: what you built; what worked / what didn’t; risks and limitations; what would be required to make it production-ready
- If the prototype is promising: expand to other internal workflows over time
- AI adoption enablement support
- Help prepare enablement materials (templates, examples, short resources)
- Organise content in our internal AI Hub
- Support internal comms (Slack posts, reminders, short summaries)
- Collect and structure real AI usage examples from across the organisation
- Support session logistics so each session lands practical outcomes
- Tool research + “what could we simplify?”
- Review our existing tooling landscape and identify overlaps or consolidation opportunities
- Research relevant tools (including open-source options) for automation, internal productivity, AI workflows, lightweight databases, and internal operations
- Produce structured recommendations (problem → options → trade-offs → risks → suggested next step)
Why You'll Love This Role
- Hands-on experience building real prototypes
- Practical exposure to n8n, workflow design, and AI enablement
- Opportunity to create portfolio-ready artifacts
- Real insight into how internal systems and automation work in a scaling company
Who We're Looking For
Your Attributes
- Curious, structured, and comfortable learning through hands-on work
- Clear communicator (written updates, documentation, async collaboration)
- Strong attention to detail (especially when testing workflows and documenting results)
- Comfortable working in a remote, global team
You'll stand out in the crowd if you have:
- Familiarity with automation tools (n8n / Zapier / Make)
- Basic understanding of APIs/webhooks or scripting
- Strong spreadsheet skills (structure, formulas, documentation)
- Interest in internal systems, operations, and AI workflows
