Nurse Coach at Virta Health
Virta is an online specialty medical clinic dedicated to reversing type 2 diabetes and obesity through nutritional biochemistry, data science, digital tools, and clinical expertise. Our innovative, team-based care model is delivered exclusively via a telemedicine platform with no brick-and-mortar clinics. We serve patients in all 50 states and are expanding our reach to include those with pre-diabetes and obesity.
The Role
Virta has launched a new program for Responsible Prescribing to assist patients with weight loss goals using our established approach and GLP-1 agonist medications. We are seeking RNs with experience in diabetes and obesity care, particularly with weight loss/GLP1s, who live in a nursing compact state. This role supports physicians and nurse practitioners and requires innovative thinking for building the program from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Manage prescriptions for patients aiming to reverse obesity.
- Educate patients on Virta’s treatment and prepare them for their nutritional journey.
- Use motivational interviewing to support patients in weight management.
- Collaborate with clinical and technology teams to develop a new service line.
- Embrace a minimal viable product approach and commit to high-quality care.
Requirements
- Minimum two years’ experience with diabetes or weight loss patients.
- Experience with health coaching or motivational interviewing.
- Active RN license with three years of clinical experience in type 2 diabetes.
- At least one year of experience with GLP-1 agonist patients.
- Active multistate RN license and residency in a Nursing Licensure Compact state.
- Associate or Bachelor’s RN Nursing degree.
- Interest in working with a tech-enabled, growth-stage healthcare organization.
- Occasional travel for team and company events.

Additional Information
This is a fully virtual, full-time role with set hours Monday through Friday (including rotational holiday coverage). Virta has a location-based compensation structure and offers competitive benefits. Please note that clinical roles do not hire in AK, HI, RI, and corporate roles have additional state restrictions.
