Job Overview: Patient Service Representative - GI
This role is responsible for managing the scheduling of hospital and ambulatory admissions, arranging diagnostic tests and procedures, and coordinating pre-admission testing and paperwork, ensuring a smooth patient experience.
Essential Job Functions
- Schedule hospital and ambulatory admissions and procedures.
- Coordinate pre-admission testing and required paperwork.
- Enter diagnostic tests into the orders management system.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff and vendors.
- Perform clerical duties such as faxing, photocopying, scanning, filing, and mailing.
General Job Functions
Demonstrates a working knowledge of insurance, pre-certification, booking, and scheduling procedures. Provides excellent customer service to alleviate patient anxiety and increase physician productivity, while also ensuring emergency procedures and specialty equipment requirements are met.
Education, Certification, Computer And Training Requirements
- High School/GED required; technical/diploma program preferred.
- Heart Saver certification within 90 days of hire.
- 0–1 years experience required; 2-4 years preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with EHR, Practice Management System preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Basic office technology proficiency (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner).
Compensation and Benefits
Pay range is $18.13 - $22.02 hourly, based on experience and industry standards. VillageMD offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA coverages, and a 401k savings plan.
