Job Description

The Patient Service Rep - Ophthalmology is responsible for scheduling hospital and ambulatory admissions, coordinating pre-admission testing, entering diagnostic tests and procedures into our orders management system, and managing various clerical duties. This role ensures that all necessary forms and consents are complete and helps maintain positive working relationships with physicians and nursing staff.

Essential Functions

  • Schedule hospital and ambulatory admissions.
  • Collect and verify pre-admission testing data.
  • Enter diagnostic tests and procedures into the system.
  • Coordinate surgery schedules and communicate issues to the clinical team.
  • Perform clerical duties such as faxing, scanning, and filing.

General Responsibilities

Demonstrate understanding of booking procedures for inpatient, outpatient, and special procedure scheduling. Maintain knowledge of insurance pre-certification and cancellation protocols while using strong customer service skills to alleviate patient anxiety. Accurately log procedures and manage necessary documentation.

Education & Experience

  • High School/GED required; vocational/technical training preferred.
  • 0-1 years experience required; 2-4 years preferred.
  • Heart Saver certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and standard office equipment is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly pay ranging from $18.13 to $22.02, with benefits including Medical, Dental, Life, Disability, Vision, FSA coverages, and a 401k savings plan.
