About the Mandarin Speaking Housekeeping Supervisor Role

As a Mandarin Speaking Housekeeping Supervisor at Viking, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, order, and hygiene onboard our vessels. Your dedication will ensure maximum guest satisfaction, aligning with Viking China Outbound Professional Service Standards (VRC PSO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the correct receipt and distribution of guest laundry services.
  • Oversee the distribution, control, and return of Viking River Cruises uniforms.
  • Ensure seamless embarkation day operations within the housekeeping department.
  • Guarantee impeccable cleanliness and order across all guest areas and the housekeeping department.
  • Actively assist with stateroom cleaning and laundry duties as needed.
  • Implement procedures strictly according to company standards and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) rules.
  • Ensure the regular care and maintenance of plants and flowers onboard.
  • Coordinate the daily distribution of programs, gift orders, and turndown services.
  • Handle the preparation of ships for opening and closing at the start and end of each cruising season.
  • Motivate and train a diverse housekeeping team of 5-13 members responsible for laundry, staterooms, and public areas.
  • Supervise the day-to-day work and responsibilities of the entire housekeeping team.
  • Provide direct replacement for Stateroom Stewards during absences, such as holidays.
  • Participate in the loading of supplies and provisions for the vessel.
  • Control housekeeping costs to ensure operations remain within the allocated budget.
  • Collaborate with the Hotel Manager on stock ordering and maintain correct storage levels.
  • Establish standard par levels for all necessary supplies.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks in accordance with company procedures.
  • Actively engage and socialize with guests to enhance their onboard experience.

Qualification Profile

  • Hold a graduated education in the hotel industry.
  • Possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in a similar or identical position.
  • International experience or prior experience working onboard a ship is a significant asset.
  • Demonstrate excellent Mandarin language proficiency and fluent English skills; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
  • Exhibit a strong service-oriented and guest-focused approach with keen attention to detail.
  • Showcase excellent management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Maintain a positive personality and professional appearance at all times.
  • Display flexibility, stress resistance, a strong team player attitude, and unwavering commitment.
