About the Barchef / Bar Supervisor Role at Viking
As a Barchef / Bar Supervisor, you will ensure friendly and professional beverage service in the bar, lounge, and on the sundeck, delivering maximum guest satisfaction in accordance with Viking China Outbound Standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a professional, welcoming, and sales-oriented beverage service across the bar, lounge, and sundeck areas.
- Operate bar procedures in strict adherence to company standards, including menu presentation, decoration, and overall appearance.
- Organize, manage, motivate, and train a dedicated bar team of 2 to 4 crew members.
- Plan and execute F&B-related ship functions and special events.
- Serve drinks consistently with company standards and create daily innovative cocktails.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager for the preparation and setup of Café Lunch in the lounge.
- Maintain the highest level of cleanliness and order within the bar, pantry, lounge, and sundeck, following HACCP standards.
- Control bar costs effectively to stay within budget allocations.
- Work with the Food & Beverage Manager to establish weekly stock orders.
- Accurately tally daily bar revenue and conduct regular inventory and stock takes according to company procedures.
- Prepare the bar for ship opening and closing at the start and end of each cruising season.
- Ensure correct storage of stock and establish appropriate par levels.
- Assist with luggage duty on embarkation and disembarkation days.
- Actively participate in loadings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in a 4 or 5-star bar operation.
- International or shipboard work experience is a distinct advantage.
- Excellent Mandarin language skills are required, with English or other language skills being beneficial.
- Demonstrated excellent management, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of beverages, including wines and cocktails.
- Possess flexibility, stress resistance, a strong team player mentality, and commitment.
- Ability to work independently, with a strong service-oriented and guest-focused approach.
- A positive personality and neat, professional appearance are essential.
