Job Description

About the Role: Senior Legal Counsel at Vertiv

Vertiv is seeking a highly motivated and commercially minded Senior Legal Counsel to join its dynamic legal team in Singapore. In this pivotal role, you will support Vertiv's fast-paced Asia-Pacific business by providing practical legal advice, managing complex commercial transactions, and partnering with business leaders to drive strategic outcomes. You will be instrumental in negotiating high-value contracts, managing legal risks, and enabling scalable business practices in line with global standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Negotiation & Drafting: Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including master sales agreements, distribution agreements, procurement contracts, and service-level agreements.
  • Business Advisory & Risk Management: Provide strategic legal and commercial advice to internal stakeholders on business practices, risk allocation, policy compliance, and dispute avoidance. Actively participate in deal structuring and early-stage issue spotting.
  • Regional & Cross-Border Collaboration: Align with legal counterparts in EMEA, the Americas, and HQ to ensure consistency in legal strategy, especially around sales contracts and commercial policies.
  • Dispute Resolution & Litigation Oversight: Manage and coordinate external counsel for dispute resolution, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation. Provide internal guidance on potential claims and pre-litigation matters.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Insight: Assist with regulatory issues including trade compliance, data protection, and employment law across the region, working closely with local teams and external counsel where necessary.
  • Government Contracts Support: Analyze public sector opportunities and provide guidance to teams involved in tenders or government procurement processes, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Executive Reporting & Strategy: Prepare clear, concise legal summaries and recommendations for senior leadership, enabling informed, risk-aware business decisions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Juris Doctor (JD), LLB, or equivalent law degree from a reputable institution.
  • Qualified to practice law in Singapore or another common law jurisdiction (e.g., UK, Australia, U.S.).
  • Minimum 10–12 years of post-qualification experience, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house legal roles.
  • Strong experience in commercial contract negotiation and advisory.
  • Exposure to regulatory compliance, employment, corporate governance, and litigation matters.
  • Prior experience supporting multi-jurisdictional transactions or cross-border business preferred.
  • Fluent in English communication skills.

Key Competencies

  • Strong legal judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and business needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident negotiator and relationship-builder, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
  • Commercially astute with a solution-oriented mindset.
