We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Piove di Sacco (PD), Italy!

Vertiv is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to be part of the Thermal Management mechanical Design team within the R&D Department, based in Piove di Sacco (PD) - Italy. This role will be mainly focused on floor mount/chiller products.

What kind of work will you be doing as a Mechanical Design Engineer?

• Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team on global products, focusing on high performance, cost-effective design, and market-leading innovation.
• Design new products or re-engineer existing ones, with a focus on mechanical aspects (mainly sheet metal and piping), collaborating with suppliers, Procurement, and Industrial Engineering, while being aware of necessary product marketing inputs.
• Create and review product documentation (CAD drawings, specifications, bills of material).
• Work in a structured company using PLM systems to create items and manage revisions.
• Meet objectives for cost, quality, environment, and execution time, achieving the best trade-off between market and internal customer needs.
• Analyze and resolve technical problems regarding products under your responsibility; improving, updating, and reviewing mechanical drawings according to information from Production, Procurement, and Logistics departments, to simplify assembly, reduce costs, and improve quality.
• Demonstrate a high level of experienced CAD skill combined with good attention to detail.
• Be available to travel on request between the Italian HQ (base) and a production facility in Slovakia.

What will make you successful at Vertiv?

• Technical Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 3 years of previous working experience on similar activities, ideally in the Chiller or HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) sectors.
• Good knowledge of light structural work processing is mandatory.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics aspects is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent knowledge of 3D/2D CAD & PLM systems, Microsoft Office tools, particularly PTC Creo.
• Knowledge of management computer systems.
• Knowledge of technical norms, company procedures of basic detailed lists.
• Knowledge of technical drawings.
• Good knowledge of Bill of Materials structure and, eventually, their configurations.
• Capacity for taking decisions as for solving problems.
• Good level of English – written and spoken.
