About the Role
The Staff Cloud Security Engineer role involves leading efforts to harden our platform and ensure that infrastructure security is built into our systems from the ground up. Reporting to the Security Operations Manager, you will influence secure practices across the company while enabling rapid and secure growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable security controls across our cloud-native platform.
- Harden infrastructure components using infrastructure-as-code, policy enforcement, and service isolation.
- Build secure-by-default infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with platform teams to integrate security best practices in architecture.
- Conduct threat modeling, risk analysis, and mitigation planning for critical systems.
- Develop tools to enhance monitoring, detection, and incident response.
About You
You have 8+ years in infrastructure or platform security roles, strong expertise in secure cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and proficiency in tools such as Terraform, CDK, Kubernetes, and CI/CD security. You balance engineering practicality with principled security practices.
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with security automation pipelines, open-source contributions, and certifications like GCP Security Engineer, AWS certifications, CISSP, or OSCP. A degree in Cybersecurity or a related discipline is preferred.

Compensation
The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $196,000.00 - $336,000.00, adjusted based on location and experience. Total compensation includes benefits and equity-based components.
