Job Description

Targeted Annual Pay Range: $90,000.00 to $110,000.00.

Position Purpose: The Project Engineer (Electrical) is responsible for the commissioning of equipment and systems with an electrical focus. The role involves reviewing project information, executing field activities, maintaining documentation, assisting the Project Manager, and mentoring junior engineers. Candidates must have both theoretical and practical experience with building MEP systems design, construction, and commissioning.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

  • Commission electrical distribution equipment and related controls, mainly in data center environments including HV and MV systems.
  • Review system designs for compliance with client facility goals and prepare commissioning plans and procedures.
  • Conduct commissioning activities from the design phase through to the occupation phase, document findings and recommend technical improvements.
  • Attend factory inspections, perform equipment testing, and review project documentation and schedules.
  • Report on electrical system performance and assist in the training of junior engineers while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Technical Expertise

Candidates should be knowledgeable in MEP systems, electrical distribution, PLC controls, and testing instrumentation. Experience with ASHRAE commissioning guidelines and distributed control systems is preferred.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Wearing required PPE daily is necessary.
  • Travel nationwide 50% to 75% if not assigned locally.

Qualifications

BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of mission-critical project experience or at least 4 years as a commissioner in relevant projects. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are essential; familiarity with building management systems and common mechanical equipment is also important.
