What We Look For In a Web Design Tutor

Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design principles, user experience fundamentals, visual design theory (color, typography, layout), wireframing, prototyping tools, and basic JavaScript interactivity. Ability to explain responsive grid systems, accessibility standards, and design principles to prepare students for web development, digital media, and user interface design careers.

Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching visual design principles, CSS layout techniques, and user-centered design processes. Guides students through creating wireframes, implementing responsive layouts with flexbox and CSS grid, styling web pages with CSS, and evaluating designs for usability and accessibility. Emphasizes the intersection of aesthetics and functionality, connecting web design to brand identity, user experience research, and front-end development.

Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with web design curricula and common challenges. Adapts instruction using design tools, live coding demonstrations, and progressive website building projects to support students from creative beginners through those developing professional web design and front-end development portfolios.

Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles. Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style. Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
