About the Team

Vanguard’s Trading Analytics and Strategy (TAS) team works with our global trading desks to optimize trading strategies, saving millions of dollars for clients each year. The team collaborates closely with trader and portfolio manager partners across asset classes, both passive and active, to conduct data-driven analyses and build tools that shape trading strategies.

Vanguard’s trading desk trades over $15 trillion annually and manages over $9 trillion in active and passive Equity and Fixed Income products.

What We’re Looking For

This newly created role supports quantitative and trading technology initiatives and is ideal for a technically proficient candidate with passion for data, automation, and financial markets. The role emphasizes automating reporting, supporting infrastructure and data workflows, and collaboration with quant and tech teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automated reporting pipelines and analytical tools.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity with rigorous testing and validation.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications using SQL, Python, and other technologies.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to support infrastructure and data requirements.
  • Troubleshoot data inconsistencies and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Continuously improve workflows by integrating new technologies.
  • Begin developing familiarity with transaction cost analysis and trading desk operations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define data requirements and validate deliverables.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in a technical or data-focused role.
  • Strong technical skills in SQL, Python, AWS, and Git.
  • Knowledge of Tableau and/or OneTick is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities.
  • Interest in financial markets with passion to grow technical expertise in trading.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
