Data Analyst - Policy Development, Operations, and Reporting
Vanguard’s Global Public Policy (GPP) function is responsible for managing Vanguard’s policymaker relationships and driving our investor-focused policy agenda through advocacy, policy expertise, research and thought leadership, and data and analysis. The Policy Development, Operations, and Reporting team streamlines policy formation, provides operational support, and tracks, measures, and reports progress.
This position on GPP’s Global Policy Development, Operations, and Reporting team will partner with GPP colleagues, IT partners, and approved vendors to support execution of the team’s operational, data, reporting, and technology enablement responsibilities. This role supports Global Public Policy priorities by coordinating tracking and reporting, providing operational support, and ensuring timely, decision‑ready data to enable effective policy work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving and executing projects or workstreams, ensuring structured planning, execution and monitoring of deliverables within defined scope and timelines.
- Managing policy issue tracking and reporting, by maintaining key metrics, and datasets, and supporting tracking and reporting systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics and PowerBI Dashboards) to ensure accurate, consistent, and reliable data for governance, strategy, and reporting.
- Compiling and synthesizing data to support data-driven decision-making and Vanguard senior leadership and Board-level materials.
- Providing operational insights, analysis, and recommendations on operational challenges, ensuring timely attention of escalated issues.
- Maintaining, supporting, and continuously improving GPP technology and collaboration tools, including coordinating with GPP stakeholders, IT partners, and approved vendors to evaluate and implement system and process enhancements, with a focus on AI and automation.
- Maintaining clear documentation of core processes, standard templates, and authoritative reference materials to promote consistency and continuity across GPP.
- Providing operational support across GPP to enable coordination, continuity, and effective execution of team processes and priorities.
- Contributing to special projects and undertaking additional duties as required.
What you’ll need:
- Demonstrate your commitment and alignment to Vanguard’s mission of taking a stand for all investors, treating them fairly and giving them the best chance of investment success.
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience, with 3 years of experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and process optimization. (Public policy expertise is not required.)
- Proven ability to work independently as a self-starter, taking initiative to identify and solve problems, manage priorities, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Proficiency in using project management and reporting tools (i.e. Microsoft Dynamics, PowerBI, Tableau, Excel, SharePoint, etc.). Knowledge and prior use of AI tools is an advantage.
- Exceptional communication and relationship building skills, adept at identifying key stakeholders and working collaboratively with colleagues and key stakeholders.
- Comfort supporting work in a fast-paced environment, applying structured analysis and following established processes to address operational needs, including navigating ambiguity and complex issues.
- Support the execution of strategy and operational priorities through disciplined follow through that contributes to business outcomes.
