Position Summary
The Center for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases (CAND) seeks a Senior Scientist specializing in biomarker development to advance blood-based diagnostics for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and related neurodegenerative disorders. The role focuses on developing innovative assays using CSF and blood-based diagnostics leveraging immunoaffinity reagents (Fc-VHH fusions) for tau and alpha-synuclein detection.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead assay optimization and validation using NULISA or SIMOA and ELISA platforms.
- Collaborate with clinical investigators to access and use patient and control samples.
- Supervise and mentor laboratory personnel, ensuring protocol adherence and data integrity.
- Work with bioinformatics and biostatistics teams on data analysis and assay refinement.
- Publish research findings and present at international conferences.
- Assist in grant writing and acquiring additional research funding.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in biomarker assay development and immunoassays.
- Experience with clinical translation, protein purification, and immunoglobulin-based diagnostics.
- Strong publication record and supervisory experience.

Experience and Education
The role requires a PhD or Master’s degree with extensive research experience. Candidates should have at least 6 years of research experience (or 9 years for Master's candidates) with relevant experience at a Research Scientist level.
Additional Job Duties
This position involves planning, directing, and participating in major research projects, supervising staff, preparing manuscripts, and ensuring adherence to research protocols and safety procedures.
