Job Summary

The Research Assistant II, Pediatrics works under general direction to plan, coordinate, supervise and participate in research projects. This role is split between experimental research with the principal investigator and managing the laboratory environment. Preferred candidates will have a background in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, chemistry, or computational biology and enthusiasm to learn new laboratory techniques.

  • Learn advanced techniques such as CRISPR editing and flow cytometry.
  • Get involved in next-generation sequencing and quantitative PCR.
  • Assist with organization, management, and maintenance of the lab.
  • May supervise Research Technicians or Assistants.
  • Prepare materials for reports and potential publication.

Experience and Education

Required qualifications vary from a High School Diploma with basic science courses to a Master's Degree with major coursework in relevant fields. Experience ranges from 1 year (with a Master’s) up to 7 years experience (with a High School Diploma).

  • Coordinate and supervise assigned research projects.
  • Operate and maintain specialized laboratory apparatus.
  • Analyze research data and assist in report preparation.
  • Supervise junior research staff when required.
  • Perform advanced scientific research work and suggest improvements.
